The Kirk Player Mission and History
The Kirk Players is a not-for-profit corporation of
volunteers organized as a “Community Stock Company” and
formed to be a service to our community. It is a
privilege to donate our time, talents, and energies to
provide a wholesome activity for those who enjoy working
in community theatre; to offer you entertaining and
challenging theatre; and to help provide funds for
worthy causes. We are proud to be members of the
Illinois Community Theatre Association, The American
Association of Community Theatre, the GLMV Chamber of
Commerce, and Mundelein Main Street.
Performing for over 42 Years
The Kirk
Players have been performing since 1966, when they
provided a benefit performance at the Kirk of the Lakes
Presbyterian Church to raise funds to help Vietnamese
children with cleft palates. John W. Lynn, founder and
director, recognized the opportunity to do something
worthwhile while having a lot of fun performing, and the
rest, as they say, is history!
Since that time, the Kirk Players have raised over
$75,000 (including over $5,000 last year) for all kinds
of organizations, including Omni Youth Services, Bright
Horizons, the Lake County League of Women Voters, the
Knights of Columbus, the Lake County Museum, the Boy
Scouts, and many more.
In addition to helping our sponsors raise funds, we have an
active role in our local community. We provide free
summer theatre workshops for children and adults, have
performed annually at Carmel High School's Street Scenes
fund raiser, and answer special requests for
appearances, performances and workshops.
The John Lynn Annual Scholarship Fund
The Kirk Players are pleased to offer a $1000 dollar John W. Lynn
Performing Arts Scholarship annually to a qualifying Mundelein
High School Senior.
The Kirk Players have been offering this scholarship
since the year 2000.
